Halloween season brings out the best in L.A. immersive scene with ‘The Willows’ and ‘Witch!’
When the Willows announced a new, larger-scale production titled L.A. Witch, the name was a sure sign they were onto something. It was like they’d figured out how to do a witch on location.
The Willows are best known for their immersive, interactive experience “The Willows,” which has been operating in theaters since 2010. But they have also found a niche in the world of storytelling in their documentary, “L.A. Witch.” They were excited when an all-new production called “Witch!” was announced. The Willows spent months building a new production in Los Angeles. They then approached us with the project. I’m a huge fan of their work and was super stoked to be part of this project.
When we visited the Willows’ offices earlier this year, it felt like we were in the back of another great production. This one has a decidedly new look, but it uses the same storytelling techniques and approach. The Willows has been a real treat for us. On our way to “Witch!” we stopped by The Willows in Encino, California—the site of both of their production companies. There were all sorts of things we wanted to talk about while driving over with an entourage of Willows employees.
The Willows is best known for “The Willows,” a live interactive theater. On opening night, we saw an audience of more than 20,000 people. Now, they are looking for people to collaborate on a new production. They have an idea they want to take to the next level, and The Willows wants to be a part of the production. The Willows is excited to work with the team at our studio.
The Willows is looking for a director of photography, a lighting person, a sound design person, and an environment photographer. To put the team together, the team is looking for a writer who can come off a deep enough level of narrative
