Letters to the Editor: I’m 70 and on TikTok. The rampant ageism is sickening. I’m not even in my 20s yet and I get so sick of seeing old white people.
The most obvious example is the guy on TikTok. He’s probably in his 60s or 70s, and yet he’s having too much fun with his young followers. He’s also been taking advantage of them by being inappropriate with them, but even that is a problem because he’s also a creepy old man, so that’s a double insult.
People need to stop being hateful to each other. The next time you see an old white man, just take a breath and laugh. The guy probably has never had a woman in his life and probably never will, so why don’t you have a little fun with him?
The next time you see an old white woman, tell her to stop playing with the children and go home. Go make a sandwich or whatever you like to do. Stop treating her like an infant. That’s not what she is there for.
There are plenty of other examples out there, but these two are the worst. And to think I’m a white guy.
