The following is a transcript of an interview with The Nation’s David A. Harris, host of the nation’s longest running radio podcast, The Harris Poll, which aired on April 30 on the PBS NewsHour:

AMY GOODMAN: David Harris, host of The Harris Poll, has been in New York City for three weeks — this is a longer broadcast series on the topic of democracy in American — and was back in New York for the first week in November where the presidential election was decided. David, you’re a citizen of the United States of America, from a Jewish family. I want to start with you, what’s the first question you get asked every time you come to New York?

DAVID A. HARRIS: Well, I think it is always the first question, and we always say something, because it’s a great question. So I think the first question is, “You’re Jewish?” And then, “You voted for Trump?” But that’s the natural conversation that we always have, is, “You voted for Trump?” Because we know exactly what I’m talking about, because I didn’t vote for him. It’s not that people don’t believe in me, they don’t believe in what I believe in, but they think that I’m wrong, and they’re disappointed about it.
