The work of Monet and his contemporaries, such as Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Matisse, is often compared to that of our own masters. While we often try and explain all of this in the art world with the words “It’s the same as Matisse,” the comparison is actually not as cut and dried as you might think. In fact, there is much more to consider than just the similarities in the art of the period. Although it’s true that the impressionist artists were all striving towards similar goals in their painting, it is not only the similarities that make them interesting. Van Gogh’s landscapes and Gauguin’s Tahitian paintings are not only different from Monet’s impressionist paintings, but differ from each other as well.

Monet’s Impressionism
While Monet was mostly known for his large-scale compositions of flowers or people, there is one particular painting that is a work that has influenced many people all over the world. This painting, entitled Au Bonheur des Dames, has a very simple storyline that can be easily explained visually, as well as being a piece of art, that is.
This painting is a painting of a nude woman. She is standing in a room, with one of her arms resting on a windowpan, looking outside, and we can clearly tell that she is looking at the view while she is sitting on her bed. Her hand hangs
