Furious Nadal’s father, Rafael Nadal, is angry over comments made by his daughter’s tennis coach about his tennis career.
Elie Löw claimed Nadal should not have won the French Open title because of an injury he suffered on his way to the French Open final in Paris.
In response, Nadal tweeted: “Thank u for u support my sister & for your comments. I am very well.” The tweet was accompanied by a photo of the family.
The Nadals’ first child was born on Tuesday and their family has been celebrating.
Elie Löw also told the German press: “Of course it means he can’t win anything,” adding: “I have a daughter who’s going to win Grand Slams.”
Nadal’s brother, Marcelo, said Löw’s comments were “silly” and that he hoped it was a one-time thing.
Nadal was in Paris with his wife, Els Soler, and the couple held a news conference at the French Open semi-final between third seeds Dominic Thiem and Gilles Simon.
Nadal’s mother, Maria Sharapova, spoke to BBC Sport on Wednesday and told how the family were celebrating. “It’s a new beginning and we are so happy,” her daughter said. “Of course it means he can’t win anything”

Elie Löw told Deutsche Welle during an interview on Wednesday that he did not think Rafael Nadal should have won the French Open title and that it was “silly” for him to suggest Nadal’s chances of winning a Slam were harmed after the French tournament ended with his victory.
