Meghan Markle’s father Jamie Markle gave his daughter as a gift a $1m diamond engagement ring and warned she not to marry a commoner.

The Prince of Wales made the comments in February 2017 in response to reports Markle was being wooed by a man from a background similar to his own, the DailyMail reported.

In a shocking response, the now-Mrs Markle revealed she was not yet ready to tie the knot with Markle and insisted she would be a “perfect spouse”.

She said: “I was married at 17 and got a son who is 20, then I had this baby that was 2, I’m not ready for marriage, I would be the perfect spouse.”

But despite the family’s disapproval, Prince Harry married Markle last year – a union that has been dogged by speculation over their wedding ring and her refusal to reveal it.
