Returning Disney CEO Bob Iger announces plans for sweeping overhaul of company and industry, including reinvention of theme parks business

Disney will spend the next seven years reimagining the traditional business model of the traditional theme parks.
Disney has made a series of big changes in recent years, including the purchase of Lucasfilm, the acquisition of Marvel, the acquisition of Pixar and making big changes to Star Wars.
But it is the company’s announcement Friday of a new company called the Walt Disney Company, the subject of which is a sweeping overhaul, that is the most significant and surprising.
The company will spend the next seven years reimagining the traditional business model of the traditional theme parks.
“Disney should be at the forefront of the next generation of digital consumer entertainment — one where the brand is embedded in everything we do,” Iger said
